Congratulations to Maria Moreno, HigherEd doctoral student, who presented, on June4, 2024, at the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) 14th International Conference at the University of Salamanca, in Spain.

Her session, titled “The Influence of Mentoring Experiences for Underrepresented Students,” provided attendees an opportunity to deepen their understanding of how mentoring programs support underrepresented students and enable them to grow academically, professionally, and personally.

Following a brief overview of mentoring research and theories, attendees discussed the impact that formal and informal mentoring offer students of color, in particular Latinx students, and identify support systems that can lift marginalized and minoritized students.

Maria is one to watch! Her proposal to present on her research was recently accepted for the 9th International Conference of Teaching and Education (ICFTE) in Vienna, Austria.
