Continuing the work of Love Behind Leadership fund, Manhattanville University’s EmpowerEdD Fund is dedicated to empowering current students and recent (1 year) alumni by providing valuable funding to further their scholarly research and professional growth.

In 2025, funds have supported the following 3 students:

Devin Klugh, a May 2025 EdD alumna, presented on her dissertation research, entitled "The Pandemic, Precarity, and Pedagogy of Hope: High School Theatre Teachers' Experiences of the COVID-19 Pandemic," as part of the New Guard Panel at the 2025 American Alliance for Theatre and Education (AATE) Conference in Cleveland, OH.
Cher Mullings, HigherEd doctoral student, attended the NCORE (National Conference on Race and Ethnicity) conference in NYC enabling her to network with practitioners who are engaged in equity work related to her research proposal, a qualitative study of Doctoral Pipeline Programs for Racially Minoritized Students.
Denny Santos, 2nd year doctoral student in HigherEd Pathway, participated in the Emotional Intelligence (EI) in Leadership program at Harvard University. This experience deepened his understanding of EI as a theoretical lens that he intends to use for his dissertation on Student Affairs mid-level managers’ EI.

In prior years, funds have supported other students:

Guided by the five foundational themes of the Ed.D. program, our mission is to cultivate a community where individuals develop themselves and others, facilitate responsive education programs, embody sophisticated practitioner-scholarship, lead learning organizations, and actively engage in professional and policy-making communities.

We seek to nurture leaders and scholar-practitioners who meaningfully contribute to their fields through some of the actions listed below:
  • Conference attendance as a Manhattanville Ambassador to feature or further one’s research
  • Funding for expenses related to conducted research

The Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership is designed for practicing and prospective leaders and experienced educators in P-12 and higher education, serving schools, districts, private and independent schools, charter schools, colleges, universities, community organizations, and entrepreneurial endeavors. The Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership consists of 3 pathways and adopts a cohort model enabling students to be part of a dynamic and cohesive community of learners during the EdD program.

Currently enrolled students and doctoral alumni are highly accomplished scholar-practitioners who appreciate and have benefited from the value of having a terminal degree in the field of education.

Celebrating Excellence since 2010
