Congratulations to Doreen Marie Pontius who on Friday, September 13, 2024, successfully defended her dissertation proposal. The title of Doreen’s dissertation is A QUALITATIVE STUDY ON COMMUNITY COLLEGE STUDENTS’ PERCEPTIONS OF MINDFULNESS.
The purpose of this qualitative study is to explore community college students’ perceptions of mindfulness strategies that have been integrated into their course curriculum. Specifically, this study will explore whether students who are exposed to mindfulness strategies during class perceive that learning mindfulness fostered a deeper understanding of the subject matter, connected their education to their values and beliefs, and increased their connections with others (Batada, 2018; Barbezat et al., 2014).
