  1. What is the minimum GPA requirement?
We look for a 3.0 GPA, but it is not an automatic disqualifier.
  2. What is the deadline to apply?
We have rolling admission so there is no deadline to apply, however cohorts can fill up so earlier is always better. We offer a Spring and Fall start each year, with Spring starting mid-January and Fall starting at the beginning of September.
  3. My Bachelor's degree is still in progress, can I apply?
Yes, you can submit your application but you cannot receive an admissions decision until your degree has been conferred. It must be shown on a transcript showing your degree is conferred, we cannot accept any other forms of endorsement that your degree will be completed.
  4. Can I apply with pre-requisites still missing?
You can apply with up to two pre-requisites in progress, but you must be able to upload an unofficial transcript to your application portal that shows the courses are in progress and slated to be completed before the beginning of the cohort you are applying to.
  5. Is there an expiration date on pre-requisites?
No, there is no expiration date - we accept pre-requisites from any time period as long as they were completed at an accredited institution and meet our grade, credit and content requirements.
  6. I got a grade below a C+ in one or more pre-requisite course(s) but I successfully retook them/am planning to retake them, can I still apply?
Yes, you can still apply - however, typically any more than one pre-requisite course with a grade below a C+ that has successfully been retaken will lower your chances of being admitted. A grade below a C+ in more than two pre-requisites can disqualify a student from being eligible for the program.
  7. Can you review my transcripts for the pre-requisites even though I have not yet applied?
We do not do transcript evaluations before you apply - when you submit your application, your transcripts will be reviewed for all pre-requisite coursework.
  8. Can I take pre-requisite coursework online?
We do not advise that you take coursework online, however, we can accept online pre-requisites as long as they were completed at an accredited institution and meet our grade, credit and content requirements. Please note that we do not accept any coursework from Straighterline.
  9. I'm trying to apply and I don't see accelerated second degree nursing as a major option?
To start an application, please select the 2025 Undergraduate application with a student entry type of Second Degree and a major of nursing. This will get you the correct requirements. Do not apply as a first year or transfer nursing student.
  10. Are the classes offered online?
No, the program is fully in-person on our campus in Purchase, NY with daytime classes. There is no flexible scheduling - courses can be offered anytime between the hours of 8 a.m. – 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Clinicals can be held anytime between the hours of 7 a.m. – 11 p.m., Monday through Sunday.
  11. Can I complete the program part-time?
No, it is a set accelerated schedule and there is no flexibility when it comes to what you take each semester.
  12. Are there any scholarships or discounts?
No, we do not offer any institutional scholarships or discounts for the program.
  13. How much is the tuition cost?
Tuition information can be found here: https://www.mville.edu/admissions-and-aid/student-accounts/tuition-and-fees.php
  14. I applied but my application still shows the Conferred Degree Transcript and Pre-Requisites Fulfilled checklist items as missing even though I uploaded my transcript?
These checklist items are manually updated once admissions has reviewed your transcripts to verify both your conferred Bachelor's degree and all of your pre-requisite coursework. Please allow time after submission of your last transcript for the admissions review to be completed. Once it has been updated, your application portal will reflect any completed pre-requisites marked off as 'Yes' - should any still be marked no, that means they are not fulfilled and you can reach out to your admissions counselor with any further questions.
  15. I was unsuccessful in another nursing program, can I apply to the accelerated second degree nursing program?
Yes, you are welcome to apply but it will significantly lower your chances of being admitted to the program.
