Manhattanville’s accelerated biochemistry + MS in Biomedical Sciences degree program allows students to move directly into graduate-level biochemical research without any added stress, finishing requirements just one year after earning a bachelor’s degree.
Years One–Three: Take BA/BS in Biochemistry program courses
Year Four: Begin graduate dual credit coursework and complete bachelor’s degree requirements
Year Five: Complete the remaining credits to earn MS in Biomedical Sciences
After biochemistry majors demonstrate readiness for advanced biomedical science course content, they add graduate courses to their academic plans. Both the bachelor’s in biochemistry and master’s in biomedical science curriculums integrate hands-on laboratory training and close peer and faculty collaboration.
The accelerated biochemistry program curriculum fosters professional communication skills and develops practical laboratory experience with a schedule of undergraduate and then graduate courses, optional internships, and opportunities to contribute to novel research projects.
Requirements for the combined BA/BS in Biochemistry + MS in Biomedical Sciences program include:
- 120 undergraduate credits
- 30 graduate credits
To complete the five-year combined biochemistry program, you’ll integrate learning from lab and seminar courses to create a final capstone thesis project. Manhattanville’s MS in Biomedical Sciences degree allows students to gain experience in laboratory research, analysis, teaching, or scientific paper writing in a manner supporting their future careers.
- Review requirements for the BA and BS in Biochemistry
- Review requirements for the MS in Biomedical Sciences
Graduate courses you might take for dual credit include:
- Anatomy and Physiology
- Forensic Biology
- Molecular Biology Techniques
- Principles of Genetics
Manhattanville’s biochemistry and biomedical sciences accelerated dual degree program graduates will have the academic, research, and laboratory experience needed to pursue exciting entry-level career opportunities as chemists. The depth and breadth of knowledge gained can facilitate advancement to mid and high-level careers in clinical or commercial laboratories, higher education, and medical settings.
While bachelor’s degree programs alone can lead to roles such as chemist and technician, the education and experience of further graduate education may be preferred or required for higher salary ranges or management or supervisory roles in the sciences. The accelerated MS in Biomedical Sciences program helps students prepare to apply for doctoral programs in pharmaceutics, forensic science, or biochemistry, as well as apply their scientific knowledge to a range of industries.
- Medical Scientist
- Chemical Scientist
- Materials Scientist
- Biochemical Researcher
- Professor of Biochemistry
- Scientific Writer
- Scientific Journalist
- Forensic Biologist
- Medical Doctor
- Doctoral (PhD) Student
- Physician’s Assistant
Experience in biochemistry concepts and research and the ability to gain specialized practice in biomedicine through graduate thesis projects ensure students can apply their skills immediately to groundbreaking chemical or materials research or apply to further academic or professional programs.
