Student Health and Counseling - Immunizations

Attention All Students

Covid Vaccine is strongly recommended but not required

  • New students must submit proof of all immunizations/vaccines listed below.
  • New York State Public Health Law 2165 requires that all students registered for 6 or more credits in an approved degree or registered certificate program born on or after January 1, 1957, submit proof of two immunizations for measles and one each for mumps and rubella in order to attend the University. In addition, each student must certify that they have already received immunization against meningococcal meningitis or that they have received and reviewed the information provided by the institution, understand the risks of meningococcal meningitis and the benefits of immunization, and have decided not to obtain the meningococcal vaccine.
  • Students will not be permitted on campus without proof of required vaccination or an approved vaccination exemption.
  • Students will not be permitted to move-in to residence halls, attend classes, or any Manhattanville-sponsored activities until all required immunizations are received (or a request for exemption has been approved).
  • Students who are enrolled in programs in clinical or student teaching programs may be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination as required by their off-site location. Off-site clinical or teaching placements may not allow for medical or religious exemptions at their facilities, and in such case they do not, the university cannot ensure that a placement that does not require a COVID-19 vaccine will be available. Students with questions about off-site clinical or teaching placements should direct them to the School of Nursing and Health Sciences or School of Education.
  • If you are an international student and received a vaccine that has not yet been approved in the US, please contact us at shac@mville.edu to discuss your situation.

If you have questions, please email shac@mville.edu or call 914.323.5245.

Proof of immunization can be uploaded to Student Health Portal, a secure medical records system.

Your health history establishes a medical record and enables the Student Health Center to provide care for you throughout your university career. All medical documents are kept in a secure medical records system and are maintained with strict confidentiality.

Graduate Students & Immunizations

Graduate students are required to submit proof of immunizations if they are enrolled in 6 or more credits and any portion of their coursework is in person. This includes hybrid or partially in-person courses that meet on campus at any point during the term.

Students enrolled exclusively in online courses do not need to submit immunization records and may register without restrictions.

If you receive an error message directing you to contact SHAC, this likely indicates that one or more of your courses includes an in-person component. In that case, immunization records must be submitted. If you believe your course is fully remote and has been misclassified, please contact the head of your department. They can verify the course format and email SHAC to confirm that your coursework is 100% online. Upon confirmation from the department head or an academic advisor that you are fully online, SHAC can override the immunization requirement.

Requests for Immunization Exemptions – Medical or Religious

Students who would like to apply for a medical or religious exemption for any of the immunization requirements listed above may do so via the Student Health Portal, a secure medical records system. Please complete the Immunization Exemption form and submit with accompanying documentation. Review of exemption requests can take up to approximately five business days, so please submit your request with adequate time for review. Questions regarding this process should be directed to shac@mville.edu

Students who are enrolled in clinical or student teaching programs may be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination as required by their off-site location. Manhattanville will consider all applications for religious and medical exemptions for mandatory vaccinations. Students must submit supporting documentation with any exemption request. The submitted information will be evaluated and a determination will be made on a case-by-case basis by appropriate university personnel. Only those who qualify after a review of the request will be granted an exemption. The university may request additional information after evaluating documentation submitted by the student.

Those who knowingly submit false information in pursuit of this exemption are in violation of the Student Code of Conduct and will be subject to disciplinary action.
