Congratulations to Rosa Amendola who on Monday, April 1, 2024, successfully defended her doctoral proposal. The title of Rosa’s dissertation is Exploring Principal Perspectives: A Qualitative Study on District-Created Structures Supporting Agency in the Context of School Autonomy.

Rosa’s study is designed to examine principals’ and district leaders’ perspectives on how district administrators create structures to support principal agency. Focusing on high performing, suburban school districts, the researcher will explore how school principals perceive the support in the context of school autonomy and how school district leaders perceive how the support is provided.

Through this study, Amendola seeks to comprehend how principals gain agency in situations of heightened autonomy and examine the alignment and reinforcement, if any, of school autonomy and principal agency.
