Congratulations to Lloyd Cutkelvin, who on Thursday, March 14, 2024, successfully defended his dissertation proposal. The title of Lloyd’s dissertation is: A QUALITATIVE RESEARCH STUDY OF THE TRANSITION FROM FACULTY TO DEPARTMENT CHAIR AT COMMUNITY COLLEGES.  The purpose of this qualitative study is to understand the experiences of undergraduate faculty as they transition to the role of department chairs in Arts and Sciences at community colleges. The three components of leadership development put forward by Gmelch (2013) (conceptual understanding, skill development, and reflection practice) will be the framework though which this research seeks to understand this transition.
