Congratulations to Adrian Novio who on Monday, March 11, 2024, successfully defended his dissertation proposal. The title of Adrian’s dissertation is: Analyzing Throughput Rate: Enhancing Developmental Students’ Academic Progress. This quantitative study will determine the effect of a developmental math program redesign on the throughput rate of first-time and full-time students. It employs a quasi-experimental design using preexisting data that will be disaggregated based on various demographic factors and compared pre-, during, and post-developmental redesign. Of particular interest is the extent to which the redesign results in higher levels of success, as defined by successfully completing the course, among students who are required to begin their college math coursework at the developmental level.
