Congratulations to Cody A. Blume who on Monday, July 29, 2024, successfully defended his dissertation proposal. The title of Cody’s dissertation is THE INFLUENCE OF ACTIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS AND 21ST-CENTURY SKILL DEVELOPMENT ON STUDENT SELF-EFFICACY: A QUALITATIVE STUDY.
Cody’s study will describe how students who graduated from a high school with an active learning program perceive their experiences using 21st-century skills in postsecondary settings. The study will also describe high school graduates’ reflections on how their participation in an active learning program contributed to their sense of self-efficacy in using 21st-century skills. The methodological design will be an interpretative qualitative case study comprised of semi-structured interviews with administrators involved in the development and running of the active learning program and with students who graduated from that active learning program. The conceptual framework is centered around Albert Bandura’s self-efficacy theory.
