Congratulations to Ashley Cruz who on Thursday, May 16, 2024, successfully defended her dissertation proposal. The title of Ashley’s dissertation is UNVEILING Racism: a critical PHENOMENOLOGICAL study of black Students’ experiences in PREDOMINANTLY white Suburban high schools
Ashley's critical phenomenological qualitative study will explore the nuanced and often overlooked experiences of Black students who've attended predominantly White, suburban high schools. Using Critical Race Theory (CRT) as her theoretical lens, Ashley aims to shine a light on the racialized experiences of understudied, minoritized Black students as they’ve navigated their way through White school settings.
