Transformational Athletics Project Keeps Moving Forward
Manhattanville University has reached an important milestone in a major capital project to transform its existing baseball field into a state-of-the-art baseball and multi-sport field, with the Town of Harrison's Planning Board and Zoning Board approvals now officially complete.
The most recent approval came on August 13, when the Harrison Zoning Board approved the zoning variance required for the project to move forward. That decision follows earlier approvals from the Planning Board, including site plan approval, a steep slopes permit, and environmental review under the State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) process.
Together, these actions represent the completion of the project's public review phase and reflect months of collaboration between the University, consultants, and Town officials.
With Planning Board and Zoning Board approvals secured, the University's focus now shifts to the final technical reviews required before construction can begin. Manhattanville is currently preparing and submitting materials to the Town's Building and Engineering Departments, including a Land Development Application and a finalized Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP).
The Town of Harrison’s Building Department and Engineering Department reviews are expected to take place over the coming weeks. Manhattanville University anticipates completing the remaining permitting requirements in advance of the project's planned construction start date of October 1, 2026.
The project timeline has progressed steadily throughout the summer:
- June 8, 2026: Planning Board recommends the project for public hearing and initiates SEQR review.
- June 23, 2026: Planning Board approves the steep slopes permit, issues a SEQR Negative Declaration, grants conditional site plan approval, and refers the project to the Zoning Board.
- August 13, 2026: Zoning Board approves the required variance.
