Congratulations to Jerry Griffin who on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, successfully defended his dissertation proposal. The title of Jerry’s dissertation is: "THE LEADERSHIP JOURNEY: EXPLORING THE EARLY YEARS OF RURAL SUPERINTENDENTS."

The purpose of this qualitative study, guided by Constructivist Grounded Theory (CGT), is to explore the diverse experiences of rural New York Public School superintendents during their first five years in the role. This study seeks to examine the challenges they encounter, the strategies they employ, and the factors influencing their adaptation and leadership transition. Given the inductive nature of CGT, this study does not begin with a predetermined theoretical framework; instead, it aims to develop insights grounded in the perspectives of the lived experiences of these rural superintendents.
