Studies have revealed autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is rapidly growing, more so in males than females. Minority representation, specifically African American, is pivotal to positive educational advancement within this demographic.

Research Design: Qualitative, Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis
Sample: 8-12, 18-30, African-American males who self-identify as being on the autism spectrum.
Data Collection: Data will be collected via 2 or more semi-structured interviews. Journal reflections from participants will also be collected to complement interview data. Transcripts will be coded using inductive qualitative analysis informed by Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis including line by line coding, focused coding, and identifying connections among statements.
