The Computer Science Education program prepares master’s degree candidates for initial teacher certification in all grades, reflecting the New York State Education Department (NYSED) Computer Science and Digital Literacy learning standards for students in grades K-12. The Computer Science Education program prepares teachers to provide K-12 students with rich and meaningful exposure, experiences, and explorations into computer science. The program includes a deep background in core computer science concepts and skills, such as programming, algorithms, data collection and analysis, and cybersecurity, as well as understanding the human and ethical impacts of computing and computer science. The hallmark of the program, though, is the research-based pedagogical practices, methods, and strategies that form its foundation. Manhattanville College School of Education is proud to be one of the first programs approved by NYSED in order to meet this need and opportunity.
