Depending on each applicant’s background experience and education, one of two pathways may be best suited:
Certificate of Advanced Study - SDL Certification - 11 credits - One year
The SDL certification program curriculum is aligned with New York State leadership standards, ensuring graduates are fully prepared to meet SDL requirements, pass exams, and take on district-wide leadership roles.
All SDL certification programs include district-level internships. Hands-on learning opportunities include 300 hours in a public or non-public school district administrative environment. Throughout the internship, students will be supported by an experienced administrator and a university supervisor, ensuring that they apply leadership competencies in real-world settings.
For full-time administrators or educators, internships may be able to be completed within a current job or school district by coordinating with your superintendent.
