Joseph Fasano

Joseph Fasano is a poet, novelist, and Lecturer in Writing at Manhattanville University. His many books include The Teacher (Maudlin House, 2025), The Last Song of the World (BOA Editions, 2024), The Swallows of Lunetto (Maudlin House, 2022), The Dark Heart of Every Wild Thing (2020), The Crossing (2018), Vincent (2015), Inheritance (2014), and Fugue for Other Hands (2013). His book of poetry prompts, The Magic Words (Penguin Random House, 2024), helps people of all ages unlock their creativity. Professor Fasano's writing has appeared in many publications and anthologies, including The Forward Book of Poetry (Faber and Faber). He is the recipient of The Rattle Poetry Prize, The Cider Press Review Book Award, and other honors. His writing, which has been translated into over a dozen languages, has been nominated for many awards, including the Poets' Prize, "awarded annually for the best book of verse published by a living American poet two years prior to the award year." He is the Faculty Advisor of the Manhattanville Chess Club and, as an Associate of the Order of the Holy Cross, is always available for spiritual discussions.
