Trumpeter Mark Morganelli had the good fortune to meet his musical inspiration, Miles Davis and will pay tribute to the ground-breaking artist who changed music several times over his career. This concert will focus on Miles’s 1950’s output, as reflected in the group’s For Miles CD recorded in Torino, Italy.

About the Artists
Mark Morganelli ran his first Jazz Forum loft in 1979-1983, presenting or hosting recordings, films and broadcasts by Dizzy Gillespie, Art Blakey, Wynton Marsalis, Carmen McRae, Max Roach and others.
Mark established Jazz Forum Arts in 1985 as a non-profit arts presenter with the free outdoor summer Riverside Park Arts Festival, and produced the Sunnyside and Berkshire Jazz Festivals and NYC area concerts at Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, NJPAC, Tarrytown Music Hall, and the Town Hall.
Called "a great performer" by MusicaBrasileira.org, Sanny Alves is a singer's singer and revered as a soulful, authentic voice of Brazil. She's been a fixture in Rio's most sophisticated night clubs for over 20 years.
A native of São Paulo, Brazil, pianist Helio Alves combines the rhythmic complexity of modern Brazilian music with the edgy energy of contemporary jazz. A resident of NYC since the '90s, Alves has received high praise as an in-demand sideman with the likes of Joe Henderson, Yo-Yo Ma, Sadao Watanabe, Slide Hampton, Airto Moreira & Flora Purim, Paquito D'Rivera, Joyce, and Rosa Passos to name but a few.
Itaiguara Brandão is a New York City based recording artist and bassist/guitarist. A native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Brandão has toured internationally and recorded extensively with a wide range of Latin and World Music artists such as: Dianne Reeves, Ivan Lins, Marcos Valle, Toquinho, Roberto Menescal, Carlos Lyra, Leny Andrade, Joyce, Angelique Kidjo, Randy Brecker, Paquito D'Rivera, Romero Lubambo, and Dom Salvador, among others.
Nanny Assis is a Brazilian- American percussionist, singer,composer, guitarist Based in NYC Area. In 2011 and 2017, he was the recipient of the prestigious Brazilian International Press Award as “Best Singer of the Year.” Also, on 2017 Mr Assis receive in Tokyo Japan the award of Brazilian Ambassador on Music and Arts for his work promoting the Brazilian culture in Japan, New Zealand, Cuba, Italy, Russia, Israel, Turkey, England just to name a few countries.
