About Me

Tara L. Murphy is a 20-year-old emerging young artist from Binghamton, New York. She is currently double majoring in digital media production and fine arts both with a concentration in photography, and hopes to minor in dance. Her passion for photography and dance have gone hand in hand. You will find her constantly editing photos, or making her friends pose for different shoots around campus. As well as her around campus photographing different events for the school’s website and social media for her internship as the Office of Communications Photography Intern. Over the summer she interned with BingPop which is an alternative news site in her hometown. This fall she will continue to be a teacher’s assistant for a dark room photography class as well as assist the professor, Randy Matusow, with her professional event photography business. She will also intern with The Lucie Foundation, and will be the head photographer of Manhattanville’s student-newspaper, Touchstone.

Some of her biggest accomplishments have given her the taste of Hollywood she needed to decide to focus on the entertainment industry as a future goal. A photo from Tara’s series “The Forgotten” was featured in a national movie trailer for “Twilight” author Stephanie Meyer’s book “The Host.”  Tara’s most recent accomplishment was having the honor of being a Merit Winner for The National Foundation for YoungArts 2015 (also known as The National Foundation for the Advancement in the Arts). For this she submitted her portfolio of photography and was one of 400 chosen out of 11,000 to attend the national program, and was just one of 50 chosen for photography.
