About Me

Dr. Noor Syed has completed her Ph.D., M.Phil. and M.A. degrees in Applied Behavior Analysis at Teachers College, Columbia University. In the fall of 2017, she defended her dissertation, which was entitled Conditioned Seeing as Functionally Related to Bi-directional Naming Repertoires with Third, Fourth and Fifth Graders Diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Noor has over ten years’ experience working in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis with a specialization in autism spectrum disorder. She is a board-certified and New York State-licensed behavior analyst and a New York State-certified general and special education teacher through grade 6. Before joining Manhattanville, Noor was the Staff Development and Training Coordinator at Hawthorne Foundation Inc., a non-profit organization that utilizes a behavior analytic approach to learning and lifelong care for children and adults diagnosed with developmental disabilities, working in conjunction with the New York State Education Department and Office for People with Developmental Disabilities programs. Among her publications is a collaborative piece of work entitled The Effects of Conditioning Three Dimensional Stimuli on Identity Matching and Imitative Responses in Young Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Noor has researched and volunteered abroad as a clinician with the Global Autism Project, a non-profit organization that partner with centers in impoverished areas around the world to implement evidence-based practices for children with special needs in a sustainable fashion.
