About Me

Dr. Matthew Baumoel is an Assistant Professor and Program Director at Manhattanville College in the School of Education’s Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy master’s program. Concurrently, Dr. Baumoel serves as the Physical Education Consultant for Westchester BOCES, guiding professional development in the areas of differentiation in physical education, curriculum development, and standards implementation. Previously, he held the position of Assistant Professor at Brooklyn College where he taught Motor Development & Analysis to graduates and undergraduates, Analyzing and Assessing in Physical Education, Secondary Curriculum in Physical Education, Physical Education Supervision, Field Supervision, and Personal Health & Wellness. Dr. Baumoel’s pending article, Differentiation: A Teacher’s Perspective will be published in the March/April issue of Strategies. He presented Physical Education and the Common Core at the New York State AHPERD conference, and presented on Curriculum Models in Elementary School, Curriculum models in High School, How Class, Gender and Race Have Played a Role in Sports, Society’s role on sports throughout history, Bullying & its Effects on Community. Prior to academia, he spent 12 years in entertainment public relations, working for The Walt Disney Company, HIT Entertainment, and PBS. Dr. Baumoel’s research focuses on teachers’ experiences with differentiated instruction.
