About Me

Professor Lucilla Pan is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy specializing in Ethics and 19th Century Continental Philosophy. She joined the Manhattanville faculty in 2020, after earning her Ph.D. from Emory University, where she wrote her dissertation on the connections between grace and freedom in Søren Kierkegaard’s moral writings.  Her teaching interests include history of ethics, applied ethics, philosophy of race, and 19th and 20th century philosophy.  Her current research interests include ethical paradox, the Kierkegaardian individual’s role in political society, and the connection of ethics to contemporary technology. Dr. Pan is currently serving as the Assistant Director of the First Year Program.
