PURCHASE, N.Y. – Manhattanville College today announced the appointment of John M. Tolomer to its Board of Trustees. Tolomer is President and CEO of The Westchester Bank Holding Corporation and The Westchester Bank.
"John has been a great supporter of Manhattanville through his role at The Westchester Bank," said Manhattanville President Michael Geisler. "I look forward to his continued and expanded relationship with the College as a Board member. He will bring invaluable insights as a local business leader."
"I was honored to be asked to join the Board of Manhattanville College," said Tolomer. "I believe it is very important for local businesses and business leaders to support institutions of higher education."
Tolomer has served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of The Westchester Bank Holding Corporation and The Westchester Bank since November 2008. Tolomer has worked in the commercial banking field since 1977. He worked for Citibank and The Bank of New York for more than 25 years and served in various senior management positions in both commercial and retail banking. In 2003, Tolomer joined Commerce Bank to spearhead its de novo expansion into the Westchester market where he was responsible for rapidly building a strong franchise for the bank. In 2005, he was named President of Commerce/Florida and was responsible for establishing the Florida market.
Tolomer serves on the Board of the New York Bankers Association, and is a member of the New York State Department of Financial Services Advisory Board. A proponent of community involvement, Tolomer is a past member of the Board of Directors of The Westchester County Association, The Leukemia Society , The Hudson River Museum and The United Way. He also served in an advisory capacity to the Food Bank and Leake and Watts. Tolomer previously served as Co-Chairman for the March of Dimes Westchester March for Babies. Tolomer is a lifelong resident of Westchester County and resides in Chappaqua with his wife.
