Manhattanville Professor Honored at International Business Conference

Manhattanville College Professor David Borker was named Best Presenter at the International Conference on Business and Economic Development (ICBED) in New York City.

During the conference, the professor presented his paper entitled, “Russia and Ukraine: A comparison of cultural accounting orientation,” which he delivered at the session for Accounting and Finance. The paper compared Russian and Ukrainian accounting orientation based on the national value studies of Geert Hofstede and cultural counting studies done by Sydney Gray. When asked about how he felt about the award he said, “I was very pleased over the interest of conference participants and leadership stimulated by my paper.” 

The ICBED is sponsored by the Academy of Business and Retail Management which is headquartered in London. The conference covered a majority of issues within business and economic development with a focus of developing and emerging countries. 

Borker is an assistant professor in Manhattanville’s the Department of Economics, Finance, and Management and has been affiliated with the College since 2009. As a licensed certified public accountant, he has taught both undergraduate and graduate level courses in accounting and other business subjects as well.
