Commencement Inclement Weather Plan
Commencement Severe Weather Plan
The Undergraduate and Doctorate/Graduate Commencement ceremonies are planned as outdoor activities on the College Quadrangle in front of Reid Castle. Guest seating for the outdoor ceremonies will be on a first come first serve basis.
However, if inclement weather is threatening, a final decision regarding the ceremony location will be posted on the college’s web site at four hours in advance of the ceremony. In the case of mildly inclement weather, the web site will specify that the ceremony will proceed outdoors as scheduled and guests will be encouraged to dress appropriately for the conditions. If the inclement weather is severe (dangerous to participants or attendees), the web site will specify the alternate location of the O’Byrne Chapel.
Seating restrictions in O’Byrne will require a limit of two guests per graduate with tickets required for entry. Two (2) tickets will be distributed to each graduate with their Cap and Gown. Due to fire regulations and room capacity, additional tickets will not be available. Lost/misplaced tickets will not be replaced. Seating for ticketed guests in the O’Byrne Chapel will begin two hours in advance of the ceremony (s). Seating is on a first come first served basis.
If one (or both) commencement ceremonies must be held in the O’Byrne Chapel, there will be a streamed video viewing option for additional guests in the air conditioned Berman Student Center Lobby and Theatre. In addition, the ceremonies will be webcast online at (a link will be posted that day) for guests who prefer to stay home or in their hotel. These alternative viewing options will also be available when the ceremonies are held outdoors for the convenience of guests who would prefer to be indoors.
The receptions following the Ceremonies will be conducted either inside or outside (weather permitting!), an announcement will be made at end of the ceremony.
Parking will be available on a first come first served basis in all of the College parking lots. Golf Cart transportation to/from the ceremonies will be provided for handicap parking only.
We thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
