Communication Policy
Communication Policy
To provide the best support to our students, empower them to achieve their own goals and be their own advocates, and comply with federal law, the CCD follows the below policies regarding in person, telephone, and email communication with parents.
- CCD counselors meet individually with students only. Third parties generally do not attend these meetings (in person or remotely), with the exception of Manhattanville faculty/staff, or service professionals, who may be required to help facilitate an appointment. Parents, guardians, and family members named in an active FERPA release are welcome to attend one appointment per semester, with their student, at the student's request.
- Outside of student appointments, the CCD is happy to discuss a specific student's activities with our office with individuals named in an active FERPA release submitted by that student. In these cases, we can provide information about a specific situation, but may not share unsolicited student information on an ongoing basis.
- At any time, the CCD will provide general information about available services, resources, and events, as well as policies and procedures within the office.
