Meet the Center for Career Development

The Center for Career Development supports and empowers students and alumni to make important decisions that integrate academic studies and life experiences with career planning. We strive to promote faculty, alumni and employer partnerships to generate opportunities that help students and alumni to discover their career potential and meet their career goals. Services are available for current Manhattanville College undergraduates who are enrolled as full-time or part time students, graduate students that are enrolled full-time or half-time, students enrolled in continuing education programs, and alumni. Cassie Robbins (she/her)
Internship/Career Coordinator

As Internship & Career Coordinator, Cassie’s work centers on supporting student internship explorations, expanding Manhattanville’s experiential learning opportunities, and liaising with the constellation of departments whose resources and expertise strengthen student career pursuits in and out of the classrooms. These departments include Academic Advising, Faculty, the Office of International Student Services, as well as Academic, Alumni, and business administrative teams.

An alumna of Middlebury College (B.A., American Studies) and NYU’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development (M.A.), Cassie brings three decades of experience in a range of industries and roles including corporate leadership, marketing, partnership development, community building, mentoring, not-for-profit research, adjunct teaching in higher education, and coaching middle and high school athletes.

Cassie enjoys hiking, comedy in all its forms, and exploring new places, and she hopes you will stop by Reid Castle and ask her about Internship programming.

Marie Pierce
Career Counselor

Marie is an empathetic Career Counselor, supporting student introspection as it relates to interpersonal skills, academic success, and future planning.  She provides services in career development that assess student's personality, interests, skills, and work-place values, as well as resume and cover letter assistance,  job search strategies, interview preparation, and more! 

Before joining Manhattanville College, Marie worked within the K-12 and Higher Education setting, advocating for young people's perspective and power. She is passionate about her work with students and supporting the needs of the Mville Community. 

Marie is an alumna of SUNY Oneonta and Long Island University. She holds a B.S. in Sociology & Human Services, a M.S. Ed. in School Counseling, and is a Nationally Certified Career Counselor.

Christopher Thunberg, Director

Christopher leads the team at Center for Career Development and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders in building programs, partnerships, and pathways that support student career engagement and success. In his work with students and alumni, he employs a Life Design / Design Thinking framework which promotes creativity and innovation in approaching one’s career and life goals. He is passionate about engaging community partners to develop equitable and inclusive work and experiential learning opportunities for all Manhattanville students. 

He brings over 20 years of career services leadership and experience, having previously worked as the director of the Center for Career Development at Borough of Manhattan Community College (CUNY), Director of Counseling and Programming for the Career Center at Yeshiva University, and as an Associate Director of Career Development at New York University’s Wasserman Center for Career Development.  Prior to his work in higher education, he worked as a recruiter for Accenture, the global management and technology consulting firm, and as a human resources manager for Sectorbase.com, a technology start-up in the Bay Area.  

He holds a Master of Counseling Psychology degree from the California Institute of Integral Studies, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from New York University.  Outside of work, Christopher enjoys biking and exploring the rail trails of the Hudson Valley.
