FAQ 3. What are the Deadlines to register my internship for Academic Year 20201-2022? | Internships must be requested and submitted on Handshake before the following deadlines: * The deadline to register an internship course is the Add/Drop deadline set by the Registrar for the given semester. Extensions to register past the Add/Drop deadline may be granted, within reason, on an individual basis. Contact the CCD for information.

FAQ 4. Can I receive academic credit for my internship? | Yes! Undergraduate students wishing to earn academic credit for an internship can register an Internship (4497) course, and in some cases, a Capstone (3997) course. The 4497 course codes exist for all academic departments. Registering an internship for credit formally connects classroom and workplace learning to enhance both experiences. Summer Session Internships for Academic Credit - Because credit-bearing Internships are registered as courses through the Registrar’s office, students must pay per-credit tuition if they wish to receive credit for their Summer Internship. Contact the Registrar’s office or Student Accounts for pricing details. |
FAQ 5. How do I register an internship for credit? | In order to be eligible to register an internship for credit, students must:
Note: On an individual basis, departments may opt to impose additional requirements for Internship courses, such as pre-requisite or co-requisite courses, or minimum GPAs. Departments that set additional requirements, as well as any additional Internship course policies, are asked to provide that information to the CCD to assist with efficient advising and registration. |
FAQ 6. How many internship hours must I complete to receive credit? | During the semester of the internship, students must work a minimum 40 hours per credit earned. Please make sure you are on track to fulfill this hour requirement: Credits Desired Hours Required |

FAQ 8. How can I formalize my internship experience through the College, without registering for academic credit? | To have an internship notated through the policy students must meet and successfully complete the following Center for Career Development (CCD) eligibility and program requirements Student Eligibility: Students may enroll in noncredit transcript notation at any point in their undergraduate career. There is no minimum GPA or credit requirement for a student to participate in the noncredit transcript notation option. To be eligible, students must:

FAQ 10. How and when will I know my internship has been approved? | Below is the approval workflow for student internships: |
FAQ 11. My internship has been suspended or closed until further notice. What should I do? | The student should update their Internship Course instructor and the Center for Career Development. If the internship site ‘closes’ and suspends student interns: Students should check in with their internship site supervisor to see how they might be able to continue any of their projects off-site. If the site supervisor cannot provide a remote project, the student should work with the internship course instructor who can assign an assignment, project, or research project that will allow the student to complete their hours. Remote work/ Telecommuting: If you are instructed by your organization’s supervisor to work remotely, be sure to practice effective communication with your supervisor to ensure the continuity of projects or assignments |
