Manhattanville College Renames Its School of Business Manhattanville School of Professional Studies
(Purchase, NEW YORK; October 31, 2018) Manhattanville College announced today that its School of Business will be renamed Manhattanville School of Professional Studies (SPS) to best reflect its evolved direction. This name change is effective November 1, 2018. The School of Professional Studies will continue to offer Master of Science degree and Advanced Graduate Certificate options, undergraduate degree completion programs for evening adult learners (APPEAL), dual B.S./M.S. degree options, and the Post Baccalaureate/Pre-health course of study, in addition to the institutes and professional development opportunities that are offered.
“Manhattanville College is renaming its School of Business to the School of Professional Studies to better describe the array of programs offered to prepare students for a wide variety of professions, including programs expressly developed for busy practicing professionals to network and maintain currency in their fields,” said Manhattanville College Provost Louise Feroe.
Academic affairs for the School of Professional Studies will be overseen by Dean Steve Albanese who joined Manhattanville College in the fall of 2012 as assistant dean for the School of Business and served as the interim dean of the school from August 2016 through the end of 2017.
“We are proud to be able to offer our students the benefit of relevant industry driven degrees and professional programming with the quality and rigor of business accreditation for our Master’s programs from the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE). Our graduate programs have been accreditation by IACBE for over 17 years,” said Albanese.
Supporting the college’s strategic plan to foster a community of lifelong learners, Albanese introduced professional development workshops taught by several Manhattanville alumni along with a number of popular professors from the SPS. Current School of Professional Studies workshops are offered in the following categories: Entrepreneurship, Human Resources, Leadership, Microsoft Office Applications, Nonprofit Management and Women’s Leadership. These workshops are open to the general public and surrounding corporate community. Many are free to SPS students. Albanese also collaborated with the School of Education and School of Arts and Sciences to develop several joint and dual-degree programs.
