The College says thank you to President Jon C. Strauss and First Lady Jean A. Strauss after five years of service (2011-2016) to the Manhattanville community.
Gifts to College
During the tenure of President Strauss, there have been a number of significant gifts to the College.
An unrestricted gift of $5 million from an anonymous benefactor to support numerous campus projects
A generous donation of $1.2M from Sandra Priest Rose ’73 established the Rose Institute for Learning and Literacy at Manhattanville College’s School of Education.
A $100,000 grant received from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation supports the innovative re-design of the e-portfolio system.
The George I. Alden Trust has awarded Manhattanville College a grant in the amount of $100,000 for upgrades to the Berman Student Center Theater.
Led by First Lady Strauss, many renovations and upgrades have taken place including:
Heritage Hall, a gallery space that reflects Manhattanville’s rich history
A welcome wall and beautiful gardens that greet visitors to campus
The Lady Chapel now features pews and a streaming Gregorian chant
Nearly every interior space on campus has been refreshed
Linking Liberal Arts to Life
Strong support has been provided to connect Manhattanville’s undergraduate and graduate studies, and providing strong residential life and co-curricular offerings. New interdisciplinary programs are now in place, such as Digital Media Production and Sport Studies, which elicit strong interest from current and prospective students in addition to new majors in Accounting and Marketing.
Contribute to The Jon and Jean Strauss Campus Preservation Fund
In recognition of the many contributions Jon and Jean Strauss have made to Manhattanville College a Campus Preservation Fund has been established in their name to support the on-going beauty and historical preservation of the College campus. This discretionary fund, overseen by the Office of the President, will provide money for projects large and small.
