After You Hire a Student
Step 1: RECEIVING STUDENT EMPLOYMENT PAPERWORK (EXPERIENCE FORM) ONCE A STUDENT IS HIRED
Inform the student that Student Employment paperwork will need to be completed via Handshake
The student will:
- Log-In to their Handshake account
- Go to [Resources] under the [Career Center] tab (top of the screen)
- Follow the steps listed to submit their [Experience]
Step 2: APPROVING THE STUDENT’S [EXPERIENCE] REQUEST
Once students submits their [Student Employment Experience], it will be reviewed by CCD staff. Then the request will be sent to the supervisors for their approval. That email will look like this:

You will be taken to a new page where you will see three sections:
- 1st – This is the section for the supervisor to fill out (do not complete this section until you review the student’s submitted information & the attached Hiring Addendum, which may be located at the bottom of the page)
- 2nd – The supervisor will select one of the tabs to [Approve] or [Deny] the Experience. Be sure all the information submitted by the student is accurate first.
- 3rd – This section shows the student’s submitted information. Please review this, along with the attached Hiring Addendum to verify:
Job Title
Job Number
Work Schedule (Verify that work hours do not conflict with the student’s class schedule)
Pay Rate (Refer to the Supervisor Handbook for verification)
Once verification is completed, complete your section of the request form and click [Approve]
Step 3: CCD – EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION FOLLOW UP
Once authorized to begin working, both the student employee and the supervisor will receive an e-mail notification (in lieu of a Green Authorization Notice).
