The Academic Resource Center provides free Peer Tutoring and Supplemental Instruction sessions. Through the ARC, students receive individual and group support in a variety of subjects at all levels of the curriculum. Tutors and Supplemental Instruction Leaders offer assistance to undergraduates in every major, throughout the academic year. Students are able get help with their course-work and with general study strategies that will enable them to become independent learners. In addition, undergraduates are able to gain valuable work and teaching experience by serving as Peer Tutors and Supplemental Instruction Leaders in the ARC.
Due to the switch to remote instruction, students should continue to schedule Peer Tutoring appointments through the Starfish "Courses" tab. This link will give you the names and schedules of Peer Tutors for your courses. From there, you can schedule a meeting with a Peer Tutor in Starfish, or email them to make an appointment.
Peer Tutors will be holding their sessions synchronously online through Blackboard Collaborate Ultra. Once an appointment has been scheduled, Peer Tutors will send you a link to a Blackboard Collaborate session (video conference).
For courses that have Supplemental Instruction Leaders, weekly SI sessions will be held through Blackboard Collaborate Ultra. SI Leaders will email students the link to Blackboard Collaborate sessions, which will happen at the same time each week.
The ARC website lists the current SI sessions and courses with peer tutoring, as well as instructions for scheduling Peer eTutoring and online SI sessions. If you have already been working with a Peer Tutor or SI this semester, we encourage you to reach out to them via email.
We hope that you will take advantage of these online tutoring resources, and we look forward to working with you!
