Valiants Verify Purpose
Valiants Verify is a systematic process within an ethical business culture that provides an infrastructure to facilitate on-going assurances that Manhattanville College has self-monitoring, detection, and resolution methodologies in place to comply with federal, state, and local laws and regulations as well as Manhattanville College policies and procedures.
Valiants Verify Purpose
- Foster a culture of ethics and compliance that is central to all of the College’s operations and activities.
- Identify compliance risks that impact the College.
- Assist the College in understanding the potential exposure of the compliance risks and ensuring that the College has measures in place to proactively mitigate the exposures.
- Provide a resource to those responsible for day-to-day compliance activities.
- Characterize Valiants Verify as a priority of the President and the Manhattanville College Board of Trustees.
- Encourage compliance through positive reinforcement by providing proactive assistance through Valiants Verify committees and by the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer; stress that compliance will lessen and not increase employee workload.
- Perform an assessment to determine the College’s compliance risk profile so that compliance resources, efforts, and staff can be devoted to the most significant compliance risks (and which avoids the College using a disproportionate amount of time monitoring low compliance risk areas).
- Tailor the compliance education and training program to meet the specific needs of College constituencies.
- Communicate a clear and consistent message concerning the College’s compliance expectations.
- Develop compliance policies, procedures, and codes that are clear, concise, and accessible to all College constituencies; include how the College will execute, communicate, implement, and monitor the compliance measures; incorporate the concept of compliance into applicable job descriptions; and hold persons accountable for compliance.
- Monitor the compliance efforts and measure the effectiveness of policies and procedures.
