Grievance Procedure

Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability under any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance. Any student who believes that reasonable accommodations have been denied should first contact the Director of Disability Services, who will try to resolve the situation expeditiously. If a resolution cannot be reached, a written petition should be submitted to the Director, who will convene the ADA Committee to review the petition within 10 days. The ADA Committee is comprised of administrators and faculty and meets to review college policies and students’ requests. The ADA Committee ensures that reasonable accommodations are made to provide programmatic and physical access to students with disabilities, including, but not limited to, chronic medical conditions, learning disabilities, visual and hearing impairments and mobility issues.  The Committee’s decision may be appealed to the Vice President of Student Affairs. Reasonable accommodations may, at the discretion of the Vice President be provided in the meantime.
