Do you have a potential career in mind but would like to know more about the day-to-day aspects of the job?

Participating in the Sophomore Job Shadow Program can give you valuable insights into a potential career path.

What is the Sophomore Job Shadow Program?

The Sophomore Job Shadow Program matches Manhattanville students to alumni or volunteer employers in a career area of the student's interest. Students gain the unique opportunity to get an inside view of a particular profession or industry that is of interest to them either near campus or their home town. Students will typically spend a half day shadowing their host in their professional roles.

Why should I Job Shadow?

  • Explore potential careers and receive a first-hand look at a "day in the life" of a specific occupation
  • Identify the skills you will need to succeed in a particular job
  • Help determine what major or internship to pursue
  • See how classroom learning can be applied to real world work environments
  • Make valuable networking contacts
  • Increase self-awareness and self-confidence

What are some examples of Job Shadow Activities?

  • Informational interview (with host, Human Resources, colleagues)
