Room Selection and Holds

Participation in Room Selection and Holds

In preparation for the upcoming room selection process taking place in April 2012, the following message was sent to students via e-mail on February 27th, 2012:

Spring break is almost upon us and it is time to begin considering housing options for the 2012-2013 academic year. Room selection information will soon be available. The information will outline in detail the selection process. Before room selection fever hits in full, we want to communicate the importance of making sure you have no holds - financial, academic, or any others – which could impede your ability to participate in the room selection process. Students should check their Web Advisor account to determine if any holds exist.

In order to participate in room selection, you must be registered for a full-time (12 or more credits) undergraduate course-load for the Fall 2012 semester by 6 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2012. Any hold that may prevent you from registering for Fall 2012 classes will also prevent you from participating in room selection. In addition, you must obtain financial clearance from the Office of Student Accounts and pay a $400.00 reservation deposit (due by April 1, 2012) in order to receive the Room Reservation Receipt required for participation in the room selection process. If you have a financial hold and owe a balance on your account, the $400.00 you believe you are submitting as a reservation deposit will actually be put toward the past-due balance on your student account. In this case you will not receive a Room Reservation Receipt and will therefore be unable to participate in the selection process. Your $400.00 reservation deposit will hold your room until July 1, 2012, the date by which Fall 2012 bills are due.

It is equally important that, if you are a current resident planning on selecting a housing assignment as a group – especially in the case of full suites of six in Dammann or Tenney Hall - that you make sure all members of your group have no holds, have registered for a full-time undergraduate course-load for the Fall 2012 semester by 6 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2012, and have paid their $400.00 reservation deposit by 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 1, 2012 and obtained their Room Reservation Receipts. If any of the group members have not completed all of the above, the entire group of six will be unable to choose a suite until after all full groups of six have made housing selections. Room selection for current commuters will occur after all eligible current residents have had the opportunity to select a room.

The Office of Residence Life hopes that you use the next few weeks to determine if there are any potential holds that would prevent you from participating in the room selection process and correct the problem as swiftly as possible.
