SUGGESTED LIST OF THINGS TO BRING TO CAMPUS
RESIDENCE HALL LINENS
The Residence Hall Linens program has been offered at Manhattanville College for 14 years. The campus at Manhattanville College has extra-long mattresses that require specially sized sheets, blankets and comforters. These extra-long beds (which are greater than 76 inches in length) are meant to maximize your student's comfort. These XL sheets can be hard to find, but to ensure that parents and students have the right size residence hall bedding on move-in day, we provide a huge selection of custom-sized linens guaranteed to fit and guaranteed to last until graduation. We also provide a variety of other items that you may need in your new room, including extra-long comforters, extra-long mattress pads, extra-long thermal blankets, pillows, and storage solutions. We recommend that parents and students respond early in order to have the best selection of college bedding and ensure they'll receive their first choice. All of our residence hall room bedding and accessories come with a 100% satisfaction guarantee until graduation. If you are ever dissatisfied with our bedding, you may return your linens for a full refund. For any inquiries, feel free to call us at 800-957-4338. MICROFRIDGEFor students interested in leasing a combination refrigerator/microwave, a popular option for several years, please contact The Refrigerator Leasing Company. The Manhattanville-specific order form can be found here. AIR CONDITIONERSAir conditioners are not permitted in the Residence Halls unless there is a medical need documented by a Doctor. Approval will be granted by the Dean of Residence Life and First Year Experience for these cases only. If approval is granted, students are responsible for installing the air conditioner, as well as contacting the Physical Plant at 914-323-5415 to set up an appointment for the finalized installation to be inspected. Violation of this process could result in a fine and removal of air conditioning unit. THINGS NOT TO BRINGDue to the multiple dwelling nature of the residence halls, certain electrical appliances and/or other items which constitute fire hazards are not permitted.
If these items are found on campus they may be confiscated, a fine assessed, and additional student conduct action taken. These items include:
Weapons: The College considers the possession of weapons to be a violation of the law and therefore prohibits the possession or use of firearms, explosives and knives, including pocket knives. The College also prohibits the use of any other objects that may be utilized in a dangerous manner. Violation of this policy may result in serious conduct outcomes up to and including expulsion. Pets: Students are not permitted to house animals other than fish. The only exception to this would be pre-approved guide/assistance/therapy animals for individuals with documented disabilities. Violation of this policy may result in the removal of the animal/pet, an assessed fine, and student conduct action which could result in the loss of residency. As is always the case, if you're unsure whether or not you should or should not bring a particular item to campus, please feel free to contact the Office of Residence Life at 914-323-5217, and we'll do our best to answer your question.
