APPLYING FOR FINANCIAL AID

To apply for Federal Stafford loans, you must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Before you begin FAFSA on the Web, visit www.pin.ed.gov and apply for a PIN. Your PIN number will be e-mailed to you, provided you submitted your e-mail address.Once your PIN is received, you may complete the FAFSA on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Our Department of Education Federal School code is 002760.

Helpful Hints for Completing the FAFSA

• Make sure that you have the necessary tools to do the job. You'll need copies of taxes for yourself, and if you are a dependent student, your parents (IRS Form 1040, 1040A or 1040EZ). You will also need records of untaxed income or benefits and current bank, savings or investment information.

• Read and carefully follow the instructions on the application form. Answer all applicable questions completely and accurately.

• Be certain that your social security number is correct.

• Manhattanville participates in the Direct Loan Program. You do not have to contact or apply to a lending institution for student loans. If you want to be considered for student loans as part of your aid package, indicate your interest on your FAFSA/Renewal FAFSA. Your award letter will show the amount you are eligible to borrow.

Scholarship Searches

Manhattanville College encourages all of our students to search for funding beyond what is offered in their Financial Aid package. To that end, you'll find links to a wide variety of searchable scholarship databases below.

  • GoCollege (http://www.gocollege.com/)

This valuable tool allows the entry of a student's personal and academic information. Parents and other non-students will be entering information as well. Once entered, the scholarship search engine searches the database, of more than 8,000 funding sources comprised of more than 600,000 individual awards, and selects those matching the student's profile. It provides each funding source's eligibility requirements, due dates, number of awards, award amounts, and contact information.

  • MACH 25 (http://www.collegenet.com/)

The Mach25 database contains over 600,000 awards totaling over $1.6 billion.

  • Fastaid, the World's largest and oldest Private-sector College Scholarship database. 20 years of Scholarship Research Constantly updated. You will find College Scholarships here that you won't find anywhere else.
