Transfer Students

Transfer students are welcome at Manhattanville. We offer generous scholarships, and accept up to 90 transfer credits, pending approval by the Academic Dean.

Participate in Transfer Wednesday! Bring your application paperwork and receive same day admission consideration and credit evaluation, tour campus and meet with a counselor. Transfer Wednesdays run throughout the fall. The office of Admission is open Monday – Friday for campus tours and interviews.

Transfer Credit Policy

Manhattanville College Accepts up to 90 college credits

Students with an Associate's degree and a cumulative GPA of 2.0 for all courses taken toward that degree, will receive full credit for all the courses successfully completed toward that degree.

Transfer student who hold an AA or AS degree from an accredited institution are exempt from completing Manhattanville College's General Education requirements. Please note that this exemption does not apply to those transfer students holding an AAS degree from an accredited institution.

Transfer Merit Scholarships

Merit scholarships range from $5,000 - $22,000.

Applicants with 30 or more college credits:
Rockland Community College MTS Scholarship $17,000 per year
Westchester Community College Scholarship $15,000 per year
Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship $17,000 per year
Excellence Scholarship $14,000 per year
Achievement Scholarship $12,000 per year
Merit Scholarship $8,000  per year

Applicants with fewer than 30 college credits at time of application:
Chairman Scholarship $22,000 per year
Board Of Trustees Scholarship $18,000 per year
President's Scholarship $17,000 per year
Provost's Scholarship $10,000 per year
Valiant Scholarship $5,000   per year


Application Requirements

Transfer candidates for the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts or Bachelor of Music degrees must supply the following materials to the Office of Admissions:

    Optional Supplements for all Transfer Applicants

    • Personal Essay
    • Letters of Recommendation
    • A personal interview is strongly encouraged and, in some cases, may be required.

    Transfer students who apply as juniors must also be accepted by the department in their major field of study.

    Art, Music, Dance and Theatre Applicants

    In addition to following the normal application procedures:

    • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Fine Arts applicants who wish to major in art must present a varied portfolio of their best artwork to the Art Department. To schedule an in-person portfolio review please contact the Art Department at 914-323-5331 or you may submit a CD, slides or a DVD to the department. 
    • Bachelor of Music candidates who wish to major in voice, instrumental, or musical theater must audition with the Music Department. To schedule an audition appointment with the Music Department, please submit the Music Audition Form. If distance prevents an in person audition, applicants may submit slides or DVD recordings, with appropriate form, directly to the Music Department. For questions pertaining to the audition, please call the Music Department: 914-323-5260.
      • NOTE: Bachelor of Arts candidates who wish to major in music and Bachelor of Music candidates will be required to pass an audition by the end of the sophomore year. We recommend that you discuss your plans with a member of the music faculty as early as possible in your college career.

    • Bachelor of Arts candidates who wish to major in Dance, Theatre or Theatre Education must audition with the Department of Dance & Theatre. To schedule an audition appointment for the Department of Dance and Theatre please contact the Admissions Office. If distance prevents an in person audition, applicants may submit a DVD recording.

    If you wish to take courses in the performing or visual arts as extracurricular or minor credits an audition is not required.

    Deadlines

    Manhattanville College offers rolling admissions. The recommended deadlines are:

    • August 1 for fall applicants
    • January 10 for spring applicants

    Acceptance is offered for either the fall or spring semester provided you meet Manhattanville's Transfer Admissions Requirements.

    Accepted Students

    Accepted students must confirm their intention to attend by submitting a deposit fee  ($500 for residents; $300 for commuters) by the date listed on the acceptance letter. Deposit fees are none refundable.

    Deposited Students

    Deposited students please complete the New Student Course Preference Request.

    Upon depositing, new transfer students will be given an official transcript evaluation, including total number of transfer credits and Manhattanville course equivalencies for all credits, prior to their first semester at the College. Please make sure that all final official college transcripts are submitted to the Admissions Office.
