Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Studies

Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Studies is available as a minor program for students who are interested in preparing for medical, dental, or veterinary school.

Courses required for the minor are the following:

  • Principles of Biology I, II
  • Principles of Chemistry I, II with labs
  • Organic Chemistry I, II with labs
  • Calculus I
  • College or University Physics I, II
  • First-Year Writing Seminar
  • One course in English Literature (ENG ####, excluding film courses)
  • Highly Recommended: a course in Statistics

At least half of the required courses for the Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Studies minor must be taken at Manhattanville. Courses required by the student's major (e.g., Biology, Biochemistry, or Chemistry) or another minor may not be used to satisfy requirements for a minor in Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Studies. All courses for the minor must be completed with a minimum grade of C-.

The courses listed above provide a minimal program of preparation for admission to graduate programs. Additional courses directly related to the chosen profession may also be needed for admission. Students should check the entrance requirements of the professional schools to which they intend to apply.
