Spring 2011 Venice Trippers on the island of Torcello
The 2011 Art History Study Tour, led by Professors Megan Cifarelli and Gillian Greenhill Hannum, took 22 students on a week-long journey through the history of art from Early Christian times to the present. From March 11 – 19, they traveled to Padua, Verona, Vicenza, Ravenna and Venice, with visits to Giotto’s Scrovegni Chapel; a Roman theatre and arena; Palladio’s Villa Rotonda and Teatro Olimpico; the Mausoleum of Galla Placida, San Vitale and Sant’ Apollinare in Classe; Basilica San Marco, the Doge’s Palace, the Frari Chapel and the Scuola di San Rocco. Students selected monuments to research and presented their findings on site. |
