|Black Student Union Hosts 2013 Fashion Show|
Manhattanville College's Black Student Union hosted their annual fashion show titled, "The Black Experience", on Friday April 7.
"I started out in Black Student Union as a Freshman Representative. Then, progressed from secretary, to Vice President, and then finally this year President. Every year my involvement and dedication has grown. With this being my last year, Black Student Union became pretty much my baby. I wanted to make sure that we achieved nothing but absolute success for this Fashion Show," said Raquel Brown '13, the President of Black Student Union.
Titled, "The Black Experience", the theme of this years fashion show was to highlight the many different subcultures within the African-American community. Some of these scenes included: "Concrete Jungle", "Black Corporate", "Cali Swag", "Hipster", and "Black Ink".
Thanh Janie Lê '13, a model for the fashion show said, "It's been really nice being apart of Black Student Union during my years at Manhattanville College. I always enjoy being apart of their annual fashion shows. Each year the themes are so interesting."
Black Student Union featured clothing by Marshalls, H&M, and Joyce Leslie.
After the fashion was completed Brown stated, "It has been a lot of time, money, and overwhelming stress. But, at the end of the day, when all is said and done, I am so proud of everything that my board has been able to accomplish for this event."
