|First Lady Jean Strauss Wins Outstanding Service Provider Award by Adoption Initiative|
First Lady of Manhattanville College Jean Strauss was recently awarded the Outstanding Service Provider in Adoption Award at the 7th Biennial Conference on Adoption sponsored by St. John's University Adoption Initiative, in close collaboration with Montclair State University.
Strauss was recognized for her tireless and unwavering commitment and leadership through her groundbreaking films in advancing understanding of the adoption experience.
"Receiving this meant a great deal to me," Strauss said. "The conference has a strong academic focus, and it's wonderful to know that my films are of benefit to the scholarly community."
The award is given to an individual whose service to the adoption community has contributed meaningfully to the welfare of adopted and fostered individuals and families, and to birth families.
The Adoption Initiative is an interdisciplinary and inter-institutional structure that works to: address fundamental issues affecting the adoption community; provides information and training opportunities for professionals about adoption issues; encourages more research effort by the academic community in answering fundamental questions affecting members of the adoption triad; and provides a forum where members of the adoption triad can find valuable resources.
