|Danielle Summons '11 to Compete in Miss New York USA 2013|
Growing up in North Carolina, Danielle Summons '11 never thought that some day she would be come close to becoming next Miss USA. Yet, chance and charm has led the Musical Theatre major to the first step in the process. Summons will be competing in the Miss New York USA Pageant 2013 at neighboring Purchase College in January.
"It's a little bit of a comfort zone with pageant being at Purchase. It's my stomping ground," Summons said. "I know I can do this. And if I win, I will actually get to be in the Miss USA pageant."

Summons has previously participated in other pageants, but this will be her first time taking on a contest this big and publicized. As a child she was involved in many pageants with her mother and was a winner of Miss Elks of New York.
She hopes that the pageant not only be fun, but also a great opportunity to make contacts that will help her enhance her career in the music industry.
"Whenever I am doing something new, I try not to expect anything but still give it my best. I am going to try and bring home the crown," she said.
Summons said that her time at Manhattanville helped her build the confidence she needs to win the pageant and compete. She had to regularly participate in recitals and various other performances as a musical theater major.
"In order to accomplish something, there is nothing I can't do or won't do," she said. "It takes a special type of person to do that."
