|Manhattanville College to Host Award Winning Poet Terrance Hayes|

Award winning poet Terrance Hayes will be coming to Manhattanville College for the next event in the Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing program’s Meet the Writers Series, on Wednesday, April 9.He will be reading from his works and later in the evening discuss his craft and his perceptions of poetry in the public imagination.
Hayes is the author of “Lighthead” (Penguin 2010), winner of the 2010 National Book Award, and has published multiple other books including “Wind In a Box” (Penguin 2006), and “Hip Logic” (Penguin 2002), and his next collection, “How To Be Drawn,” will be published in 2015.
Mark Nowak, director of the MFA in Creative Writing program, as a fan and reader of Hayes’ work added some of his poetry to the syllabi for his undergraduate and graduate Poetry Workshops.
"Terrance Hayes is writing some of the most lyrically profound poetry in America today,” said Nowak. “Our undergrad and MFA poetry students can't wait to meet with Terrance, talk with him about the poems they've been studying in class, and hear him read from his remarkable poems on campus."
The Meet the Writers Series with Hayes is free to attend and will take place at 7 p.m. in the East Library of Reid Castle. Manhattanville is located at 2900 Purchase St., Purchase, NY, 10577.
