|John Hoppenthaler to Share His Poetry at Manhattanville College|

Poet John Hoppenthaler will be on the Manhattanville College campus, Wednesday, March 21, 2012 for a reading.
Author of two books of poetry from Carnegie Mellon University Press, Lives of Water (2003) and Anticipate the Coming Reservoir (2008) with a third volume of poetry, Domestic Garden, is nearly completed, Hoppenthaler will discuss his writing life and process and answer questions from the audience.
The reading will start at 7:30 p.m. in the Ophir Dining Room, Reid Hall. The event is free and open to all.
Hoppenthaler has taught at a number of schools, including Manhattanville College during the fall of 2002. He is currently an Associate Professor of Creative Writing and Literature at East Carolina University. For nine years he served as Personal Assistant to Toni Morrison.
"John is a terrific poet and really gets at the how and why of writing poetry," said Jeff Bens, Director of the Undergraduate Creative Writing Program. "He's a great teacher and we're lucky to have the chance to have him back at Mville, however briefly."
Hoppenthaler's poetry has appeared in Ploughshares, Virginia Quarterly Review, Southern Review, Barrow Street, Laurel Review, West Branch, McSweeney's Internet Tendency and various anthologies.
