On Saturday, Feb 18, the Office of Residence Life will be hosting Manhattanville College's 7th Annual Leadership Conference in Reid Castle.
The conference is a daylong affair focusing on student leadership. This year's theme is "Be a Showstopper: Finding Your Leadership Voice." The conference will involve discussions on topics related to leadership, success and the notion of finding one's inner voice.
"This year, as the Leadership Conference committee began planning the conference and exploring topics and themes of interest to student leaders at Manhattanville and beyond, we considered what every student leader would need to know to be successful during and after college," says Kia Brown, Resident Director of Non-Traditional Housing and one of the conference organizers. "The answer was very clear and simple....you need to know yourself!"
Workshops scheduled through out the day will include, "Public Speaking 101", "Leadership through Storytelling", "Communication Through Non-Verbal Clues" and "LGBTQ & YOU: Doing Your Part for Civil Rights".
The keynote speaker for the conference is leadership trainer and consultant, Michael Miller. Miller has spent over 200 nights traveling around the country speaking at colleges, universities and corporations to help motivate people on topics that increase personal and organizational effectiveness in a high-energy and exciting way. He is largely focused on effective communication, increasing self-awareness, handling conflict, teambuilding and enhancing individual and group effectiveness.
