The Early Childhood Education Department, the Early Childhood Education Alumni Association and CDW-G Inc. is sponsoring the "Using Technology in the Early Childhood Classroom" conference at Manhattanville College, Purchase, New York, Saturday, October 1, 2011, from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. Keynote speaker, Dr. Michael Robb is a media specialist and Program Manager for the Early Learning Environment at the Fred Rogers Center in Pennsylvania. He has published research on the impact of electronic media on young children and has done educational outreach for KCET/PBS. He will talk about the ways new technology can be included in early learning classrooms and what research says about using technology with young children. A panel discussion will follow his presentation focused upon the pros and cons of using technology in the early childhood classroom. Conference topics include using interactive white boards and tables such as the Smart Board and Smart Table, iPads, new software, smart phone apps and using robots to teach young children.
