It was another eventful weekend for Manhattanville College as four teams grabbed big wins.
The men's soccer team defeated Berkeley, 3-1, in the final of the Valiant Classic. Junior Eros Olazabal led the Valiants with two goals. Teammate senior Keston George scored in the last six minutes of play. The Valiants advance to 4-0 for the season.
The golf team took second place with a two-day score of 306 at the Trinity College Invitational, an 11-team event held at the par-72 Blackledge and Tallwood Country Clubs. Sophomore Juan Ayala led the Valiants, taking third place, with a score of 147 twice at the event.
The field hockey team finished first at the Brewer's Betty Richey Tournament Saturday, after a 4-1 win over host Vassar. The Valiants remain undefeated with a record of 3-0 this season. Sophomore Amy Hilton was named tournament MVP allowing only two goals with seven saves at the tournament.
The volleyball team suffered their first loss at the hands of William Paterson, after an impressive 4-0 start to their season. Sam Delmer put up strong numbers with 19 kills and 17 digs. The Valiants were able to rally back despite the loss to defeat St. Joseph's 15-25, 25-1425-22, 25-22. Makana Gomes led the Valiants against St. Joseph's with 11 kills, 15 digs and 15 assists.
The women's soccer team lost to Haverford, 2-0, on Sunday during the championship of the Valiant Classic.
