Manhattanville College held its 2013 Doctoral and Masters Commencement ceremony Thursday evening, May 16 on the College’s campus in Purchase, New York.  Pictured here with Manhattanville's President Jon C. On December 11, 2012 the Manhattanville Early Childhood Alumni Association organized a holiday celebration at The Coachman Family Center in White Plains.

Three students from the Manhattanville College Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing Program, Erika Stanley, Derek Smith, and Garrett DeTemple, will be reading their poems at the 2nd Annual MFA Spotlight event at the Hudson Valley Writers' Center on Friday, December 14 at 7 p.m.

Manhattanville College was inducted as a Community Partner in the Park Avenue School (Port Chester, NY) Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame on November 29, 2012. In addition to a plaque mounted in the Hall of Fame, a donation in honor of the partnership, was made to the Red Cross for Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.

Manhattanville College Trustee Kitty Pilgrim '76, renowned journalist and author, returned to campus Wednesday, November 28, to speak to students and about her experiences as a journalist and author.

This holiday season Pipe Dream Theatre is putting a new spin on "The Nutcracker" with an original steam punk musical, The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, choreographed by Manhattanville College's own Diana Pettersen '11 and Stefanie Raccuglia '12.

Manhattanville College School of Education is hosting a lecture by distinguished scholar and lecturer Dr. Thomas Lickona on Wednesday, November 28. Dr. Lickona will discuss "Preventing Peer Cruelty and Promoting Kindness: 20 Strategies."

Manhattanville College Trustee Kitty Pilgrim '76 will be on campus Wednesday, November 28 to tell the story of her illustrious career as a CNN correspondent and her eventual transition to a successful fiction writer.

Manhattanville College will be hosting its sixth annual Human Rights Awareness Day on Saturday, November 17, 2012. The yearly event includes many discussions, panels and lectures, as well as a poster session.

Thanksgiving started as a sharing of cultures and in this tradition, Manhattanville College will be hosting the annual Thanksgiving Diversity Breakfast on Thursday, November 15, 2012.

The fifth annual Sport Business Career Fair at Manhattanville College will be held on Friday, November 16, 2012.

The Arthur M. Berger Art Gallery will be hosting an opening reception on November 14, 2012 for the Dale Williams exhibit, "Wrong Moves." These paintings can be seen as allegories of shared vulnerability, especially pronounced in this time of economic uncertainty. The people in these pictures both help and harm each other; they struggle, fear, and hope together.

UPDATE 11/8/12: The Meet the Writers program has been rescheduled for December 3, 2012 at 7 p.m.

Nick Flynn, author of The Ticking is the Bomb, will be on campus for the first Meet the Writers reading and discussion of the year. The reading is on December 3 and starts at 7 p.m. in the Ophir Room, Reid Hall. Meet the Writers is hosted by the MFA program and features prominent writers, who come to discuss their art and process with fellow writers and community members.

Ara Fitzgerald, a professor in the Dance and Theater department, will be performing in Cage on Vinyl on Marley to commemorate the life of John Cage Milton on Saturday, October 27. Along with several other dancers and choreographers, Fitzgerald will be performing to vinyl recordings of John Cage's music.

Over 16,000 people gathered at Manhattanville College on October 21, 2012 to participate in the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. Participants came from all over the Westchester area to walk for the cause and were able to raise $1,362,294 in donations.

For the last six years, Manhattanville College's Center for Career Development (CCD) has parntered with the Senior Class to organize Backpack to Briefcase, a fundraising dinner for the Senior Class Gift held every fall. Backpack to Briefcase is on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at 6 p.m. in the West Room, Reid Hall.

Election season is a busy time with a lot of information given to voters at once. To help students at Manhattanville College navigate the process and pick their candidate, the Duchesne Center for Religion and Social Justice, along with the Communications Studies department and the Office of Campus Life, hosted a viewing party for each debate in the Berman Students' Center.

The 30th Annual Arthur M. Berger Lecture will feature Barbara Kellum, Professor of Art History at Smith College. She will examine the monuments of the city of Rome and their political significance in her lecture, "All in the Family: the Loquacious Objects of Augustan Rome."

Manhattanville College is partnering with 10x10, an organization that advocates the education of girls, to celebrate the first UN-designated International Day of the Girl (IDG), on Thursday, October 11, 2012.
